Such buildings should have specific environmental requirements and experimental means to ensure the quality of animals and the accuracy and reliability of experimental research. According to the degree of control of microorganisms, it can be divided into open system, barrier system and isolation system.
SPF animal laboratory:
Meet the requirements of animal housing, strictly control the entry and exit of people, items and air, suitable for breeding clean grade or specific pathogenfree (SPF) grade experimental animals. Only the barrier environment that has been tested by a professional monitoring center and accepted by experts on the spot can be used as a breeding environment for clean or SPF animals.
The laboratory animal room generally consists of feeding room, health observation room, isolation and quarantine room, various laboratories (surgical operation, laboratory treatment anatomy, postoperative management, disease diagnosis, treatment, biochemical examination, microbial quarantine, feed nutrition analysis and special feed mixing room, etc.). And the storage room, cleaning preparation room, washing and disinfection room, staff rooms (including offices, showers, changing rooms, etc.), corridors (clean areas and contaminated areas), waste treatment facilities, computer rooms and substation. The layout of the plane should make the flow route of people, animals and items reasonable and convenient. Strictly distinguish between clean areas and contaminated areas to ensure human and animal health and ensure the accuracy of the experiment (see the figure for the flow route of people, animals and objects).

The ground should be flat and not slippery, no water seepage, no water leakage, resistance to liquid corrosion and wear. For rooms with strict environmental requirements, consider choosing materials with low dust. The corner of the wall should be smooth without edges. The ceiling is generally not under pressure, using thin cement board coated with waterproof material, which can withstand water flushing and disinfection water corrosion. The reinforced concrete frame structure has good integrity and small deformation, and should be used in multi-story buildings. The enclosure structure with steel skeleton, galvanized corrugated metal plate and polystyrene hard foam board as insulation layer has good air-tight insulation performance.
